A number of Aston Villa fans have been reacting to a training ground claim made by The Athletic’s Jordan Campbell regarding manager Steven Gerrard.
His first game in charge at Villa Park comes against Brighton this weekend, with the 41-year-old hands-on at Bodymoor Heath in training.
Campbell, Rangers correspondent for The Athletic, shared a story on what it’s like to play for Gerrard. One part of his detailed report stood out, as he suggested that during his time at Ibrox, players would be put through five daily three-minute runs.
Gerrard and his coaches would reportedly watch closely, and if any player failed to hit certain heart-rate zones, he would walk into the middle of the pitch to “dig out” whoever was not putting the effort in.
Are you happy with Gerrard at Villa Park?
Yes, get behind him!

“He is honestly the perfect man to get rid of this soft centre we’ve had at the club for years. I love it”
“This is what we want to hear”
“A proper manager”
“This is the injection of energy and work rate we need, can’t lie everything I’m seeing or hearing from Gerrard so far has been real good!”
“This is the kind of management I want to see”
“Exactly how it should be.”
