Aston Villa: Fans slate Anwar El Ghazi following draw against Burnley

Many Aston Villa fans are not happy with the performance of Anwar El Ghazi following his performance in the 0-0 draw at Villa Park to Burnley.
He played 34 games last season as well but has struggled for a starting place in 2020/21. However he had a chance on the weekend to silence the doubters when he courageously stepped up for a penalty in the dying moments against rivals Wolves – he scored and gave Villa the crucial 1-0 victory.
The club rewarded him with a start against Burnley. He had six shots on goal, but three were saved and the other three were not on target. One of the three off target hit the woodwork (SofaScore). It is understandable to see why fans of the club were frustrated, but seems harsh that some were calling him ‘abysmal’ – perhaps wasteful would have been a better adjective.
If they want to push up the table and be battling for the top half instead of the bottom half, at least one of the opportunities the attacker had needs to be taken. However, he did create five key chances and so it wasn’t as poor of a performance as some seem to think.
Here is what Villa fans said about El Ghazi following the match:
El Ghazi’s finishing has been abysmal this evening. #AVFC

I thought nakamba played pretty well but offers nothing going forward like luiz does , el ghazi overall play was pretty good finishing was just abysmal . Hause solid im defence but unlike konsa offers nothing with the ball. Traore I think is poor and elmo was poor today
