Former Aston Villa striker Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped John McGinn and Jacob Ramsey to dominate Tottenham Hotspur in this afternoon's Premier League clash.

The Lowdown: Rising star in Ramsey

Both players have started together in Dean Smith's midfield in the previous three Premier League games, including the 3-0 victory over Everton and 1-0 win at Old Trafford last weekend.

Whilst the Scot has been a constant figure in the Villa squad since his 2018 move from Hibernian, the 20-year-old has really stormed onto the scene recently and has made five league appearances this season.

Rated at £20m by Ashley Preece, Ramsey is set to start at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium this afternoon and hopefully put in another impressive display.

The Latest: Terrific trio for Gabby

Speaking to Football Insider, former Villa captain Agbonlahor has heaped praise on Ramsey and has predicted both players to torment Spurs today.

Douglas Luiz, Ramsey and McGinn have formed a formidable trio in the middle of the park, and the 34-year-old believes they could hold the key to pounce upon Tottenham's much-maligned midfield.

He said: "They are all quality players and can adapt to anything. Two of them could play in a 4-4-2, they can play as a three. All three of them in that central-midfield can play in any role."

Agbonlahor continued: “Against Spurs, he won’t change that. It will be those three in there because Dean Smith has seen how well they have done. He will have also seen how many holes in the Spurs midfield against Arsenal. He’ll know Ramsey and McGinn are so good at running with the ball that they can exploit that.

“They’re doing well in every game. I’ve noticed Jacob Ramsey is getting better and better with every game and the more experience he has. He’ll continue to do that.”

The Verdict: Ramsey filling the Grealish void

Ramsey's rise and consistency have softened the blow of losing Jack Grealish in the summer, with Smith adapting his squad following the loss of their former captain to Manchester City.

If he, McGinn and Luiz can outclass Spurs' midfield of Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg, Dele Alli and Tanguy Ndombele, they could stand a serious chance of piling more misery on Nuno Espirito Santo.
