Aston Villa face Newcastle on Saturday evening and journalist for The Athletic, Gregg Evans, has provided a team update on three players ahead of the match.
Villa team news
Evans tweeted: “Team news – John McGinn is suspended. Trezeguet is back in the squad. Wesley isn’t available.”
Trezeguet finally returns
It was known that McGinn would be suspended following his yellow card against Manchester City and Wesley is still recovering from a long term injury. However, what will come as a huge boost for the club is the return of winger Trezeguet.
Trezeguet has provided a quality attacking threat during this campaign, managing an average of 2.4 shots, one key pass and 1.1 successful dribbles per game (WhoScored).
His team mate Tyrone Mings praised him as an “important” and “brilliant” player for the side last year, but the Egypt international has not been afforded the chance to show that too often this campaign because of his injury.
He might not start against Newcastle, but to have him back in the squad is a huge boost and adds more strength to the attacking options for Dean Smith.
