Aston Villa are monitoring Hull City defender Jacob Greaves ahead of a potential move, according to The Daily Mail.

The Lowdown: Greaves profiled

Greaves is 22 years of age and is primarily a centre-back who can also feature as a left-back. The Englishman has progressed through Hull’s academy and has made 123 senior appearances for the club, captaining the side on multiple occasions during the current campaign.

He has been labelled as 'phenomenal' by former manager Grant McCann and actually shares the same agency as Ezri Konsa and Bertrand Traore.

The Latest: Villa interest

The Daily Mail shared a story in the last 48 hours regarding Greaves, who appears to be a player of interest in the Premier League.

They claimed that Villa, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are all monitoring the player, who is regarded as one of the most interesting defensive prospects outside the top flight.

The Verdict: One to watch

Greaves appears to be going from strength to strength with Hull and is now valued at a career-high €8m by Transfermarkt. He has been Hull’s second-best performer this season, as per WhoScored, with a match average of 6.88/10, a score which is actually better than any Villa player.

Still just 22, you’d expect that Greaves will improve on his already impressive game and eventually make the step up into the Premier League, so a transfer could prove to be a shrewd move by NSWE and Unai Emery. It looks as if his next destination could be at Villa Park following this update, making this one to watch.
