Aston Villa are monitoring PSV Eindhoven forward Noni Madueke, according to talkSPORT

The lowdown

Madueke is a 20-year-old Englishman who's predominantly a right-winger but has also featured sporadically at centre forward.

He developed at the Crystal Palace and Tottenham Hotspur academies before moving to PSV in the summer of 2018.

Madueke recently featured for England's Under-21 side in their European Championship qualifiers against Andorra and Albania.

He signed a contract extension with the Eredivisie outfit as recently as last summer, ostensibly committing him to the club until June 2025.

The latest

Steven Gerrard and his assistant Gary McAllister watched Madueke, as well as one more unnamed PSV player, in action against Leicester City in Thursday night's Europa Conference League quarterfinal first leg, per the report.

The Foxes themselves are said to hold an interest in the youngster as they look to sign a winger this summer.

The report does warn, however, that the player's contract situation could prove to be a 'stumbling block' if the teams try to pull off a move.

The verdict

Madueke is an exciting prospect. He's scored nine goals and provided five assists in 31 appearances this season, averaging a goal contribution every 124 minutes, drawing praise as 'terrific' and 'quick' from journalist Josh Bunting.

But would Gerrard and McAllister have been impressed by what they saw at The King Power Stadium?

Well, the £16.2million-rated talent completed the joint-most dribbles in the match (five, tied with team-mates Ibrahim Sangare and Cody Gakpo) and also chipped in off the ball with two tackles (via SofaScore).

Indeed, journalist Jack Johnson noted that he 'stood out' for the visitors in the goalless draw.

The Villa bosses may be even more determined, then, to see him in claret and blue next season.
