Aston Villa midfielder Anwar El Ghazi is 'open' to the idea of joining PSV Eindhoven in the summer transfer window.

The Lowdown: El Ghazi struggling for minutes

The 27-year-old is not seen as a key part of Steven Gerrard's plans at Villa Park, with playing time coming at a premium in recent times.

El Ghazi was limited to just four starts in the Premier League last season, while this time around, he is yet to make an appearance in any of the opening three matches.

The Dutchman's current Villa deal expires next summer so NSWE and Johan Lange are running out of time to make some money back on his departure.

The Latest: Player 'open' to Villa exit

According to De Telegraaf [via Sport Witness], El Ghazi is 'open' to completing a move to PSV, with the Dutch giants apparently believing they can land him for free despite having 12 months on his deal.

That being said, it is claimed that the Villans won't be 'soft' in negotiations, so a fee may well be required to prise the winger away.

The Verdict: Makes sense for all parties

It is pointless keeping hold of an unhappy player who isn't a key part of Gerrard's plans, so moving El Ghazi on this summer makes complete sense for all concerned.

Still, it would look weak on Villa's part if they let him leave for nothing with a year still remaining on his contract, so they should demand a fee for his services.

El Ghazi is a good player who has still scored 26 goals in 119 appearances for the club - he has also been hailed as 'remarkable' by Adrian Clarke - but this feels like a natural time to move him on.
