Aston Villa are still in the battle to sign Senegal and Watford winger Ismaila Sarr, although they are joined by a number of Premier League clubs.

The Lowdown: Villa linked with Sarr signing

The Villans haven't always caught the eye in an attacking sense this season, with a number of individuals failing to hit top gear, whether it be Philippe Coutinho, Emiliano Buendia or Ollie Watkins.

One player who has been linked with a move to the club is Sarr, who has just started all four matches for Senegal at the 2022 World Cup, scoring once and increasing his total of international caps to 52.

A January or summer move from Watford is potentially in the offing and it appears as though Villa are still very much in the race.

The Latest: Interest still rife

Taking to Twitter, journalist Ignazio Genuardi confirmed Villa's continued interest, also mentioning Everton and Crystal Palace as potential suitors:

"In addition to Villa and Everton, #Crystal #Palace also looks at the case of the former Messin and Rennais I. #Sarr ( #Watford ). The Senegalese international could be the subject of an offensive during the winter transfer window."

The Verdict: Really good option for Emery

Some may turn their noses up at the thought of Sarr joining Villa simply because he is playing Championship football currently, but he could be an excellent signing.

At 24, the Senegalese should be beginning to head toward his brightest years, and his record of 30 goals and 21 assists in 109 appearances for Watford is impressive.

Sarr could add more natural pace and width out wide for Unai Emery, making them a more dangerous counter-attacking outfit, and the fact that Ben Foster has called his former teammate 'scary' and a 'freak' of a player says a lot about his ability.
