Aston Villa winger is Leon Bailey is 'struggling a little bit at the moment' after another ineffective performance, according to journalist Ashley Preece.

The Lowdown: Villa draw at West Ham

Unai Emery's side made the trip to West Ham on Sunday afternoon, as they looked to pick up three more precious points in their Premier League campaign.

It proved to be nothing more than an adequate outing for Villa, who took the lead through Ollie Watkins but were eventually pegged back by a Said Benrahma penalty.

The draw leaves the Villans sitting 11th in the table with 12 matches left to play, with a mid-table finish looking more likely by the week.

The Latest: Preece bemoans Bailey's form

Someone who struggled to make an impact was Bailey, and taking to Twitter, Preece bemoaned the Jamaican's current lack of influence:

"0 goals in his 21 PL away games for Leon Bailey, who's struggling a little bit at the moment."

The Verdict: Noticeable slump

Bailey has done fairly well for Villa overall, producing some moments of brilliance out wide and scoring six times in total, but this is a clear slump he is going through.

For such an attacker player to have registered just one goal contribution since early November is a damning indictment of his form, and much more is needed from him - Steven Gerrard was a huge fan, once calling him 'fantastic', but it simply hasn't translated under either manager.

This does arguably sum up Bailey as a player, however, with his pace and trickery always making a threat but not enough end product being produced, and Emery will surely be considering looking to sign an upgrade this summer.
