Aston Villa manager Steven Gerrard has told the club to accept a permanent offer for Bertrand Traore, as per Football Insider.

The Lowdown: Istanbul Basaksehir loan

The 42-year-old made the player train with the under-21s at Bodymoor Heath shortly before the campaign started, with the 27-year-old eventually joining Istanbul Basaksehir on a season-long loan.

The winger has made nine appearances for the Turkish side since September, contributing to three goals. However, it looks as if Gerrard has already made up his mind on the Burkina Faso international regarding his long-term future in the Midlands.

The Latest: Permeant deal mooted

Football Insider provided an update regarding Traore on Saturday. They revealed that Gerrard is keen for Villa to sell the attacker for good in the New Year, as he cannot envisage a future for the player at the Premier League club.

The report adds that ‘should his loan be terminated and a permanent deal agreed upon, it would free up some cash for potential new signings’.

The Verdict: Interesting

Traore is less than two months into his loan spell away from Villa Park and is playing regular football, so it is interesting that Gerrard has seemingly made up his mind already about the 27-year-old's long-term future.

It doesn’t exactly come as a surprise, though, especially as he made the winger train with the under-21s in the summer. However, Gerrard’s own position has come into question in recent weeks, so whether or not Villa chiefs will be happy to sell Traore in the coming months remains to be seen.
