Aston Villa have reportedly offered Gerard Deulofeu a ‘rich’ offer to make the move to the Midlands this month.

The Lowdown: Ings exit

Villa appear to be on the hunt for a new attacking addition after the club sold Danny Ings to West Ham earlier this month in a deal worth £15m

The club have brought in teenager Jhon Duran, however, the Colombian and Ollie Watkins are the only options Unai Emery has when it comes to a central striker.

Deulofeu, sponsored by Nike, has been linked with a move to the Midlands for while, and it seems as if a contract offer has been tabled to the Spaniard.

The Latest: Terms offered

Sports Witness relayed an update from Gazzetta dello Sport regarding Villa and Deulofeu on Tuesday. They claimed that the player has a ‘rich offer’ from Villa on the table, thought to be worth €4m a year.

NSWE have also offered Udinese €20m for Deulofeu’s services, however, the report states that the Serie A side would be more willing to sell in the summer.

The Verdict: One to watch?

Emery has been after a new A-list forward since arriving at the club, and if Duran is considered more of a future star, Deulofeu could be his man. He’s primarily a centre-forward but can also play out wide, so would offer plenty of versatility in the final third when Watkins is fit and firing.

He is also in fine form over in Italy with 15 Serie A goals since the start of the 2021/22 campaign, and with 127 games of Premier League experience already under his belt, Villa may see him as a really shrewd signing.

However, the club will need to persuade Udinese to sell relatively quickly, with time running out.
