Latest on Trezeguet
The Egyptian hasn’t featured for the last few weeks, and the club posted on their website prior to the trip to Old Trafford: “Trezeguet is still recovering from a hamstring injury.”
Blow for Villa
Trezeguet has provided a quality attacking threat during this campaign even if his end product has been poor, managing an average of 2.4 shots, one key pass and 1.1 successful dribbles per game (WhoScored).
Manchester United will be very tough test – they are in terrific form – so still being without Trezeguet is a blow for Smith, even if he were just to be an option off the bench.
The lack of detail in this update also suggests a lingering issue on something that has been considered week-to-week, which could be extremely damaging to the depth of the squad in the congested winter period – hamstring injuries are always difficult.
With other attacking stars in the side like Jack Grealish and Ollie Watkins, the club will still be hopeful that they can get the three points, but there is no doubt Smith will be ruing not having another creative threat.
