Aston Villa have been linked with a move for Manchester City star Jack Grealish.

The Lowdown: Grealish at the Etihad

Grealish, a boyhood Villa fan, departed the club last year in a British record move to Manchester City and is currently with England at the World Cup, scoring against Iran.

The Premier League champions paid Villa £100m for the 27-year-old, who has gone on to make 55 appearances under Pep Guardiola, contributing to 11 goals.

He is under contract until 2027, but a move back to the Midlands could well be on the cards.

The Latest: Villa linked with Grealish

Birmingham Live relayed an update from football agent Haydn Dodge, who said he’s heard that Villa and NSWE could look to bring Grealish back to the Midlands.

Reports elsewhere have also suggested that City could part ways with Grealish in order to sign Borussia Dortmund midfielder Jude Bellingham.

The Verdict: Possible?

Described as an “unbelievable talent” by Dean Smith and a “dream team mate” by Kalvin Phillips, Grealish enjoyed plenty of success at Villa Park.

However, things haven’t exactly clicked for him in Manchester, starting just six times in the Premier League this season, with his Transfermarkt valuation now at €70m (£60m).

Guardiola has plenty of attacking options and seems willing to offload Grealish in order to sign Bellingham, so if the price is right, all parties could be open to a return to the Midlands in 2023.
