# Aston Villa: Tammy Abraham emerges as potential signing

**[Aston Villa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/) are ‘leading the chase’ to sign Roma striker Tammy Abraham, a new rumour has claimed.**

### The Lowdown: Abraham shining at Roma

The 25-year-old joined Roma permanently from Chelsea back in 2021 and he has caught the eye greatly with his overall performances in Italy.

Abraham has [scored 34 goals in 83 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/alletore/spieler/331726) for the Serie A giants, [netting six times](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/Show/Tammy-Abraham) in the competition this season, as well as bagging three assists.

It could be that a return to the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) is now on the cards, however, following a fresh update.

### The Latest: Villa ‘leading the chase’ for Abraham

According to [*90min*](https://www.90min.com/posts/aston-villa-ready-to-move-for-roma-striker-tammy-abraham), Villa are interested in signing Abraham this summer and are ‘leading the chase’ for his signature, with Roma ‘ready to discuss selling’ Englishman at the end of the season.

They will demand a fee of at least £40 million for the striker, though, and Manchester United are also mentioned as potential suitors in the report.

### The Verdict: Could be a great addition

Villa have arguably looked a little weak in central attacking areas this season, with Ollie Watkins and Danny Ings failing to consistently deliver and scoring just [12 league goals](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24/Show/England-Aston-Villa) between them, in a combined 39 appearances.

Abraham could prove to be an upgrade on both, having matured as a player in Italy and been [hailed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/sportsnews/article-10627039/Ex-Chelsea-star-Tammy-Abraham-gladiator-Roma-loved-passion-Italy-GOALS.html) as a ‘gladiator’ by news outlet [*Siamolaroma*](https://www.siamolaroma.it/2022/03/16/tammy-a-caccia-del-record-di-reti-al-primo-anno-in-a/) in Italy.

The [11-cap](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/profil/spieler/331726) England international could provide both end product and a physical threat, putting his[6ft3in](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/317506/Show/Tammy-Abraham) frame to good use, and his best years should still be ahead of him.

Abraham’s experience at Roma will have made him a more rounded player, given its reputation for being [defensively strong](https://es.whoscored.com/Articles/M9aoDg2rEkCE032scMMbyw/Show/League-Focus-Is-Serie-A-Still-The-Most-Defensive-League-In-Europe), and he could feel he has unfinished business in the Premier League, having [scored 26 goals in 89 matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/tammy-abraham/alletore/spieler/331726) in the competition.
