Despite making [10](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/338275/Show/Weston-McKennie) starts for Juventus in Serie A this season, it could be that his current club are happy to allow him to move on.

### The Latest: Villa ‘have made contact’

### The Verdict: Potentially excellent signing

McKennie could be a great piece of business by Villa if they can get a transfer over the line, with the American [hailed](https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/football/article-11187665/Clint-Dempsey-heaps-praise-Gio-Reyna-Weston-McKennie-Americans-star-Champions-League.html) as a ‘dangerous’ player by Clint Dempsey.

Douglas Luiz and John McGinn could use more competition in midfield – the latter [hasn’t scored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/24/Show/England-Aston-Villa) in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) in 2022/23 – and the Juve man could add fresh legs and energy to a vital area of the pitch.

Whether or not Villa can get a deal over the line or not remains to be seen, but this is exactly the type of player that Emery would surely want, in terms of increasing his squad depth.
