**[Aston Villa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/) are [reportedly](https://maisfutebol.iol.pt/fc-porto/otavio/fc-porto-ingleses-apertam-o-cerco-a-otavio?utm_campaign=auto-tw&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social) set to make a €30m offer for FC Porto forward Otavio in the coming days.**

### The Lowdown: Otavio profiled

Otavio is primarily a winger who can play [anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) in attack or even in a deeper midfield role. The 27-year-old has made [237](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) appearances for Porto after joining in 2014, contributing to [86](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) goals during that time.

The Portugal international has netted [38](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) goals during his entire club career so far and is valued at a career-high £27m by [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/marktwertverlauf/spieler/231289), the highest number of any player at Porto, a club [renowned](https://www.planetfootball.com/quick-reads/an-incredible-xi-of-players-sold-by-porto/) for cashing in on top talents.

### The Latest: Villa bid

According to journalist [Sergio Pires](https://twitter.com/sergiomcpires) of Portuguese outlet [Maisfutebol](https://maisfutebol.iol.pt/fc-porto/otavio/fc-porto-ingleses-apertam-o-cerco-a-otavio?utm_campaign=auto-tw&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social), Villa will make a €30m (£25.8m) offer for Otavio in the coming days.

### The Verdict: One in one out?

Steven Gerrard has a number of wingers on the books at Villa Park but is set to lose one in Trezeguet. The 27-year-old appears to be on the verge of joining Trabzonspor after a [£4.25m](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-transfer-news-trezeguet-24360702) fee was agreed between the two clubs.

Otavio, labelled as an [‘exciting’](https://twitter.com/MarcLewisEU/status/1507285868406616066) forward by ESPN commentator Marc Lewis, could well be the man to come in to bolster Villa’s attacking ranks, and he’d certainly bring plenty of creativity after scoring [five](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) times and registering [14](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) assists in 2021/22.

He can also play [anywhere](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/otavio/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/231289) in attack or in midfield, so his versatility could also be a big asset, especially with Gerrard tinkering with [numerous formations](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/spielplan/verein/405/plus/0?saison_id=2021) last season.
