Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a transfer report that claims the Midlands club are prepared to outbid Liverpool in the race to sign Watford winger Ismaila Sarr.
Dean Smith’s Claret and Blue side have started the new season well, picking up all three points in their opening league fixture against Sheffield United.
The win could act as a morale boost for the current squad of players, who worked hard last term to fight off relegation, drawing with West Ham United on the final day to remain in England’s top-flight.
Smith has worked over the summer to bring in some new players, including Ollie Watkins from Brentford, Emiliano Martinez from Arsenal and Matty Cash from Nottingham Forest.
With the summer transfer window still open for a few more weeks, Smith is said to be keen on making a move for Watford winger Sarr.
TEAMtalk cite a report from France Football who claim Villa are ready to attempt a bigger bid than that of Liverpool for the 22-year-old.
Sarr who is valued at £22.05m by Transfermarkt, is yet to feature for Watford this season in the Championship but he did chip in with six assists and six goals in his 30 appearances for the former Premier League club last term.
Reacting to the report which was shared by Twitter account @villareport, fans of the Midlands club gave an opinion on the potential arrival of Sarr. Many of them love the idea, perhaps given his decent stats for a team which was ultimately relegated last season, with one suggesting he would be an “awesome” signing.
There’s a Sarr man waiting in the sky,
He’d like to come and meet us,
But he thinks he’d blow our minds.#AVFC

Wow I do hope this is true!! This would be a brilliant statement of intent and a major coup Him, Rashica/Benrhama and new LB (Henry) would be an amazing window

Sarr would be a superb fit: pace, balanced with Traoré (left foot – right foot), young, can play anywhere in the front 3, and premier league experience. Also allows Jack to play as 10. Don’t know how likely, but would be thrilled with this.

Sarr would be an excellent signing. He looked extremely dangerous against us last season.
