Reports are suggesting that Aston Villa might find it hard to keep hold of academy prospect Jean Philogene-Bidac. He is attracting a lot of interest, with four European heavyweights interested in him.
The latest on Philogene-Bidac
This is a worry for Villa
The left-winger has been in very impressive form for the Villa U23 side this campaign in Premier League 2 (Transfermarkt). He has played ten times, scored five goals and also managed to pick up two assists. He was also nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month in December.
The fact that four Champions League sides are keen on Philogene-Bidace should give Villa the hint that they should not let him go.
It would be best if they looked to tie him down to a new deal, and there is not much risk to doing this. He can continue to produce the quality for the academy until Dean Smith feels he can step up and contribute for the senior squad.
Villa have shown that their academy can produce great talent, with players like Jack Grealish and Jacob Ramsey coming through the youth set-up and Philogene-Bidace could be a new emerging star, so the club should definitely look to do all they can to keep him.
