Aston Villa are keen on making a summer move for Nottingham Forest defender Matty Cash, according to The Athletic.
Arguably one the most consistent performers in the Championship last season, Cash made himself a first team regular for Forest under French boss Sabri Lamouchi.
Making a total of 42 appearances in the league last term, the 23-year-old’s performances have gained plenty of interest with a whole host of Premier League clubs showing interest with West Ham United currently the team most often linked with the defender.
Indeed, as well as helping Forest to 14 clean sheets he also managed to score three goals and provide five assists, despite predominantly appearing at right-back.
Villa, who narrowly survived relegation in the 2019/20 season, are keen to make a number of changes to their squad and The Athletic’s Paul Taylor has now claimed that the Midlands based side and Fulham have joined the Hammers, Sheffield United and Southampton with interest.
Taylor also claims that AC Milan are keen but as of yet, he confirms that no club has met Forest’s £15m asking price.
Fulham and Aston Villa joining the long list of clubs who are keen on Matty Cash. Nobody has met the £15m asking price #NFFC want for him yet. AC Milan still monitoring, but understand Cash would favour a domestic move, if he is sold. Sheff U, Southampton and West Ham also keen.

Reacting to the report which was shared by Twitter account @villareport, fans gave their opinion on a potential move for the full-back, with many seemingly on board with the idea of signing Cash given his impressive season in the Championship. One fan even suggested he would be the ‘perfect’ competition for current right-back Frederic Guilbert.
I’m keen on us spending some cash

Should get him and Henry to compete with our main full backs

Would be perfect complimentary competition with guilbert. With max Aarons I think guilbert don’t get a look in. Makes more sense this.

Get him signed up. Fits the bill of the kind of players we should be looking for
— Villa Culture (@VillaCulture) August 13, 2020
