Aston Villa are trying to lure Arsenal midfielder Emile Smith Rowe to Villa Park this summer, and Eurosport have provided an update on the situation.

The Lowdown: Two rejected bids

Villa have already had two bids turned down by the Gunners for the 20-year-old.

The first offer was thought to be around £25m and was submitted two weeks ago. The second bid was in the region of £30m and was also rejected, with Arsenal adamant he is not for sale.

Mikel Arteta’s side are yet to agree on a new deal for Smith Rowe, and it seems as if Villa aren’t giving up on their pursuit of the Englishman.

The Latest: Eurosport’s update

According to Eurosport, who shared a story on Tuesday, Villa are looking to sell Smith Rowe a vision of being an integral part of Dean Smith’s attacking plans alongside Jack Grealish, Emiliano Buendia and Ollie Watkins.

The report goes on to add that should Villa fail in their pursuit of Smith Rowe, ‘other top targets with Premier League experience are already being worked on’ – an interesting 12-word update.

The Verdict: Does Smith Rowe want the move?

Even though the Gunners are insisting Smith Rowe isn’t for sale, Villa must know something we don’t to be still pushing a transfer.

Smith Rowe is also yet to sign a new contract at the Emirates, so perhaps that is why Villa aren’t giving up hope and that the player is possibly open to leaving London for the Midlands.

It’s good to see that Smith Rowe alternatives are also being looked into, though, but it seems as should a deal for the Arsenal man materialise, it could cost them more than their £34.56m club-record deal for Buendia earlier in the window.
