Brazilian media source Globo Esporte via Manchester Evening News have reported that Manchester City are keen to bring back Douglas Luiz from Aston Villa this summer.
The Brazilian midfielder moved to Villa Park last summer from Manchester City and had a superb season with Dean Smith’s side.
Featuring in 36 Premier League games which saw him score three goals and gain two assists, the former City midfielder was arguably one of Villa’s better performers towards the end of the season as the Midlands based side managed to fight off the threat of relegation.
Such performances have since seen reports emerge that former club City, who have a buy-back clause available to use, were keen to activate it.
Globo Esporte have now reported that City boss Pep Guardiola was indeed stepping up his plans to activate the £25m clause. This is though conflicting to a post from Telegraph journalist John Percy, who suggests that the Citizens have no such plans.
Reacting to the report from Brazil, Villa fans have responded via @villareport on Twitter with one fan in particular, perhaps tongue in cheek, asking for City midfield ace Phil Foden to be included in a potential deal.

To be fair I would take the money, he only looked class after lockdown which makes me think he can’t take the pressure of a crowded ground when fans are on players backs…. Food 4 thought..?

Can we get Foden in an exchange deal? 😀 Would be a big loss if Luiz goes to a young squad. I saw him as a potential captain if Jack left

Two thoughts: 1) Villa could offer to buyout the clause. 2) I thought the clause could only be activated after two seasons?

Predictable! I knew this would happen
