Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a transfer report linking Reading midfielder John Swift with a move to Villa Park.
Whilst Villa’s top-flight remains hanging in the balance, a win against Arsenal earlier this week saw them move out of the bottom three.
With the focus fully on the end of the 2019/2020 season, boss Dean Smith will have done very little in terms of identifying targets for next term, considering a drop down to the Championship could materialise.
However, a report from Reading Chronicle has linked the Midlands based side with a move for Swift, suggesting that he could be a potential replacement for Jack Grealish who has been linked with a departure.
The 25-year-old Portsmouth born midfielder has been a key player for Reading this season, netting six goals and gaining 10 assists in 41 Championship appearances.
Valued at £3.6m by Transfermarkt, Swift could receive plenty of interest this term after a consistently good season.
Reacting to the report of a potential move for Swift, Villa fans responded with mixed reactions. One fan suggested he would be a solid addition, whilst another identified a list of names he felt the club should be going for instead which included the likes of Said Benrahma (Brentford) and Callum Wilson (Bournemouth).
Go for Eze imo

We should consider getting rid of whoever is in charge of transfer targets

If we stay up we’ve got to be looking at players like Buendia, Sarr, Benrahma, Callum Wilson.
