The January transfer window has been a quiet one for Aston Villa so far, and plenty of flans have flocked to an update from The Athletic’s Gregg Evans on the club’s plans.
According to Gregg Evans and tweeted out by @villareport, the club are likely to continue to be very quiet in this January window. They might possibly add one attacker if the right person becomes available for the right price.
It is wise that the club are still focusing on adding an attacker, with little depth behind Ollie Watkins as things stand – Keinan Davis is yet to score in the Premier League and Wesley is still recovering from an injury which has kept him out of the team since January 2020.
It is always good to keep your eye on options in January, but the club will be aware of the inflated prices at this time and it seems they are sensibly monitoring the window.
Plenty of fans reacting to the update from Evans, with some supporting the news while others believe they need reinforcements.
Here is what Villa fans said following the news:
“I’m happy with that would rather save the £££ and see where we are in the summer as a club and also as a league January transfer window you get ripped off”
“That’s us done then in this window”
“The lack of a need for any knee jerk signings this January shows how far we’ve come”
“No great surprise really. January market is never ideal. Maybe step up the search if Davies goes out on loan though.”
“We’ve clearly got a good bunch of players with young talent coming through, apart from making barkley permanent, we dont really need anyone atm. UTV”
“With so many games in a short period of time I think we need a couple to be honest”
