Many Aston Villa fans are reacting to the latest developments on the Dean Smith’s pursuit of Ligue 1 midfielder Morgan Sanson, who looks close to signing for the club.
According to RMC Sport journalist @mohamedbouhafsi, shared via @villareport, Aston Villa are close to completing a deal to sign Morgan Sanson from Olympique de Marseille for around €18m (£16m). Dean Smith has made the midfielder his ‘priority’, and excitement is clearly building up within the fan base, with one supporter saying it would be a ‘great signing’.
The 26 year-old has an abundance of experience for both club and country. This includes appearances in the Champions League. He can provide a threat going forward and be a big help defensively according to his statistics this season, as he has averaged 1.9 tackles and 1.1 key passes a game in Ligue 1 this campaign (WhoScored).
With their club currently eleventh in the Premier League with at least three, and in some cases four games in hand on teams above them (SofaScore), players who are currently playing at such a high level like Sanson could add the much-needed depth and quality to help the club finish the season in the European qualification places.
Here is what Villa fans said following the news:
“HERE WE GO”
“Get this deal done. Get Barkley on a permanent deal in the summer. Keep hold of Douggie too”
“European nights, coming soon”
“Champions league here we come”
“I’m so excited to see him play. If and when we get him when do you think he’ll be playing?”
“Title on the way”
