Aston Villa: Fans share a response to Matija Sarkic’s pending departure

Many Aston Villa fans have reacted to a report by Football Insider that claims young keeper Matija Sarkic will leave the club on a free transfer this week.
Having spent time during his younger days with Belgian giants Anderlecht, Sarkic, who was born in Grimsby, made a move to Villa Park in September 2015.
His arrival in the Midlands saw the youngster represent the club at youth level and continue his development, before being sent out on four separate loan spells away from the club.
Sarkic, who has represented the Montenegro international side once, is now on the verge of an exit from Villa, seeing his current contract expire.
Despite having been offered a new deal by the Villans, and his recall from Livingston in January to provide cover for Tom Heaton who was injured, Sarkic is said to have now found a new club, having gained minimal chances to impress in the Midlands.
Villa fans reacted to the youngster’s potential exit from the club via Twitter account @villareport. The majority seem to think he is a decent keeper, with one pointing to his performances for Livingston where he kept seven clean sheets in 18 games as evidence. Another even suggested the club would “regret” letting him go, whilst another called it a “weird decision.”
However, whilst most think he is good, they also admit that they understand his decision given his lack of game time at Villa and the fact that he is behind Heaton, Orjan Nyland and Jed Steer in the pecking order…

Actually looks like a decent young keeper did well up in Scotland too according to the Livingston fans..weird decision tbh unless he was guaranteed first team football now

Don’t blame him. He’s a young keeper and we didn’t give him a chance

Just one of them things. Don’t matter if he’s decent unless he’s better than Heaton, Nyland or Steer he won’t get a look in. Can’t blame the lad for wanting to leave and play regular football.

What was the point of bringing him back from his loan there was no chance of him playing

Not much of a destination for young players, are we?

We’ll regret this. He’ll be a great keeper.
