# Aston Villa: Unai Emery keen on Youssef En-Nesyri

**[Aston Villa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/) and [Unai Emery](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/unai-emery/) appear to be interested in signing Sevilla striker Youssef En-Nesyri.**

### The Lowdown: Priority area

Villa could be in for a busy summer ahead of Emery’s first full season in charge after making two additions during the January window.

One of those was teenage forward Jhon Duran, however, [Ashley Preece](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/aston-villa-ashley-preece-transfer-news/) believes that ‘a new No.9 to partner Ollie Watkins is at the top of Villa’s shopping list’.

En-Nesyri appears to be a new target at Villa Park, with the forward being described as being ‘[back to his best](https://twitter.com/BenBocsak/status/1630206688224591877)’ last month by writer Bence Bocsak after scoring nine goals in 14 games after the World Cup.

### The Verdict: Smart move?

En-Nesyri can also turn out on the wing but is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youssef-en-nesyri/profil/spieler/433049) a centre-forward who has scored [12](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youssef-en-nesyri/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/433049) goals in all competitions this season, more than his 2021/22 tally.

Labelled as a forward who has ‘[unreal](https://twitter.com/oeste/status/1371196316328529923)’ finishing by members of the media, En-Nesyri scored [24](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youssef-en-nesyri/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/433049) goals during the 2020/21 season and has experience in both the Champions League and Europa League.

The 25-year-old also impressed in Qatar, helping his country to the World Cup semi-finals by scoring the [winner](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/youssef-en-nesyri/nationalmannschaft/spieler/433049/verein_id/3575) in the quarter-finals against Portugal, so he could be a shrewd signing both in the short and long run to rival Watkins and Duran.
