**According to [Marca](https://www.marca.com/en/football/atletico-madrid/2022/12/06/638f755846163f300f8b456b.html), ‘transfer experts’ believe [Aston Villa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/) are the favourites to sign Atletico Madrid forward Joao Felix.**

### The Lowdown: Felix at World Cup

Felix is currently with Portugal at the World Cup in Qatar, where he has helped his country into the quarter-finals.

The 23-year-old registered [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/nationalmannschaft/spieler/462250/verein_id/3300) assists in the 6-1 win over Switzerland in the last 16 and has started [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/nationalmannschaft/spieler/462250/verein_id/3300) of the four games as a left winger.

His future at Atletico has been a hot topic of conversation in recent days, and it seems as if a move to the Midlands could be on the cards.

### The Verdict: Exciting

Felix moved to Atletico back in 2019 from Benfica in a deal worth [€127m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/transfers/spieler/462250) and has contributed to [51](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdaten/spieler/462250) goals in [129](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdaten/spieler/462250) games.

NSWE will give Emery a [‘huge’](https://www.footballinsider247.com/aston-villa-owners-green-light-huge-january-overhaul-exclusive/) transfer budget in 2023, so they may well be able to afford the attacker given they sealed a move for Philippe Coutinho earlier this year.

Felix can play in a [variety](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/462250) of attacking positions and has plenty of [experience](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joao-felix/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/462250) at the highest level despite being 23 years of age, so this could be an extremely exciting move and one that looks doable.
