# Aston Villa: Villans linked with Victor Nelsson

**Aston Villa are expected to make a ‘serious offer’ for Galatasaray defender Victor Nelsson.**

### The Lowdown: Nelsson profiled

Nelsson, a Denmark international, is 23 years of age and is [primarily](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-nelsson/profil/spieler/422951) a centre-back who can also play in midfield.

He made a [£6.3m](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-nelsson/transfers/spieler/422951) move to Galatasaray from FC Copenhagen last summer and has turned out [41](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-nelsson/leistungsdaten/spieler/422951) times in Turkey since.

Nelsson, described as a [‘Danish lion’](https://twitter.com/romerkukner/status/1503633616508796929), has a €25m (£21m) [release clause](https://www.galatasaray.org/haber/gs-sportif-a-s/victor-nelsson-galatasarayda/49135) in his Galatasaray deal, and it looks as if he has caught the eye of fellow countryman Johan Lange.

### The Latest: Villa interest

Reports from [Turkey](https://spor.haber7.com/galatasaray/haber/3217404-galatasarayin-6-yildizi-avrupa-devlerinin-radarinda) on Wednesday looked at six Galatasaray players who have been catching the eye across Europe.

One of those was Nelsson, with Aston Villa the only side name-checked with an interest, reportedly ready to make a ‘serious offer’ in the summer.

### The Verdict: Needed?

Steven Gerrard has just [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/aston-villa/kader/verein/405) senior centre-backs on the books, two of which are Tyrone Mings and Ezri Konsa, with [reports](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/aston-villa-summer-transfer-plans-26675697?_ga=2.114921735.1699586530.1649662137-1504247392.1626470296) casting doubt over their Villa Park futures.

Therefore, a number of defensive reinforcements may well be required ahead of Gerrard’s first full season in charge, with Nelsson possibly one of those.

Nelsson is at the top of his game with a career-high £9m [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/victor-nelsson/marktwertverlauf/spieler/422951) valuation, and you’d like to think he still has room for improvement, potentially at Bodymoor Heath.
