# Aston Villa: Villans weighing up Conor Gallagher move

**[Aston Villa](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/aston-villa-news/) are thought to be weighing up a move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher.**

### The Lowdown: Successful Palace loan

Gallagher enjoyed an impressive loan spell away from Stamford Bridge last season at Crystal Palace.

The 22-year-old was a regular under Patrick Vieira, making [39](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/leistungsdaten/spieler/488362) appearances in all competitions and scoring [eight](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/leistungsdaten/spieler/488362) goals for the Eagles to take his senior club tally to [16](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/leistungsdatenverein/spieler/488362).

[Described](https://twitter.com/HLTCO/status/1431647793169457155?s=20&t=KzxxPaHq2KgQKzwY_JHsNg) as “outrageous” by Palace podcaster Dan Cook, Gallagher also picked up the [Player of the Season](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/announcement/conor-gallagher-wins-crystal-palace-player-of-the-season-2021-22/2022-05-10/) award at Selhurst Park, and it looks as if he could be on the move again this summer.

### The Latest: Villa weighing up Gallagher move

The [Express & Star](https://www.expressandstar.com/sport/football/aston-villa/2022/07/08/aston-villa-weigh-up-conor-gallagher-move/)’s Joseph Masi reported on Friday morning regarding Villa and NSWE’s interest in Gallagher.

He outlined that Villa are one of the clubs considering a move for the midfielder, who wants to play regularly over the coming months to put himself into Gareth Southgate’s thinking for the World Cup later this year.

### The Verdict: Get it done

Gallagher has gone from strength to strength over the last 18 months, which has resulted in his [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/marktwertverlauf/spieler/488362) valuation rocketing to a career-high £22.5m.

He can play as a holding, central or attacking [midfielder](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/leistungsdaten/spieler/488362) and even on the [right](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/conor-gallagher/leistungsdaten/spieler/488362) if required, so he would bring plenty of versatility to Steven Gerrard’s squad if he comes to Villa Park.

Villa are thought to be seeking a [‘big addition’](https://www.givemesport.com/88030336-aston-villa-gerrard-now-looking-for-two-big-signings-at-villa-park) in midfield ahead of the new season, according to transfer insider Dean Jones.

Gallagher could prove to be that man, making this potential move one to watch.
