# Chelsea: Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang eyed by Everton

**[Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/everton-sources-chelsea-signing-deal-auba/) reporter Wane Veysey has said that Everton are eyeing a potential free transfer for Chelsea forward Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.**

### The Lowdown: Champions League exclusion

The 33-year-old has struggled for game-time in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) this season, starting just [four](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pierre-emerick-aubameyang/leistungsdaten/spieler/58864) top-flight fixtures all season. The Gabon striker did start all [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pierre-emerick-aubameyang/leistungsdaten/spieler/58864) Champions League group games for the Blues, contributing to [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pierre-emerick-aubameyang/leistungsdaten/spieler/58864) goals as the west Londoners progressed from Group E.

However, the striker has now been left out of Chelsea’s [squad](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/64517630) for the Champions League knockout stages, with January attacking additions Mykhailo Mudryk and Joao Felix named in the squad instead.

Aubameyang’s future at Stamford Bridge now appears to be up in the air, despite the fact he still has 17 months remaining on his [contract](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pierre-emerick-aubameyang/profil/spieler/58864).

### The Latest: Aubameyang eyed by Everton

Veysey shared a story for [Football Insider](https://www.footballinsider247.com/everton-sources-chelsea-signing-deal-auba/) on Saturday evening regarding the Gabonese striker, with Everton eyeing a potential out-of-window move for the player.

He claimed that Aubameyang ‘could look to terminate his Chelsea contract’, although that may involve the Blues paying off the rest of his lucrative [£160,000-per-week](https://fbref.com/en/players/d5dd5f1f/Pierre-Emerick-Aubameyang) Stamford Bridge deal.

### The Verdict: One to watch?

Aubameyang, who has actually been Chelsea’s worst senior performer in the league this season according to [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/15/Show/England-Chelsea) metrics, doesn’t seem to be fancied by [Graham Potter](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/graham-potter/), who has started the forward just [four times](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/pierre-emerick-aubameyang/leistungsdaten/spieler/58864) in the league since taking over from Thomas Tuchel five months ago.

He wasn’t in the squad for the 0-0 draw against Fulham on Friday, with teenager David Fofana making his [Premier League debut](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/david-datro-fofana/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/787232/saison/2022/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/631) off the bench.

Therefore, following this update, Aubameyang’s future could be one to keep a close eye on over the coming weeks despite the January transfer window shutting; and if an agreement can be reached by all parties, perhaps a contract termination may materialise and be the best outcome for all involved.
