**Chelsea could be making a move for Juventus outcast Marco Motta in the January transfer window as the Italian club are looking to off-load him.**

He was brought to Turin on loan last season, but has failed to make a single appearance for the *Bianconeri* and manager Antonio Conte is eager to free up space in his squad for new arrivals.

Reports from the Italian media suggest that Andre Villas-Boas has lined up Motta, who is keen on a move to the Premier League, as a January target.

It has also been rumoured that Conte may attempt a swap deal with Chelsea’s Alex heading to Turin and Motta to Stanford Bridge.

The 25-year-old would reportedly have to take a pay cut to move to another Italian club, hence his eagerness to join a money-bags English team.

Chelsea currently have a few right-back options; first choice is usually Jose Bosingwa with Branislav Ivanovic as a back-up.

Therefore if the deal did go through Motta may find he is still a regular on the bench at Chelsea, unless Villas-Boas is planning a major clear out in the summer.

A number of Italian websites value Motta at around £5.8m, but if Alex was part of the deal then Juve may have to stump up some cash themselves.
