# Aston Villa: Fans react to Joe Gomez transfer bid

**Aston Villa have made an offer for Liverpool defender Joe Gomez, according to [Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-un-club-chiede-joe-gomez-72920), and a number of Villa fans have been giving their thoughts to the transfer update via social media.**

Villa were first linked with a move for the centre-back at the end of November, with [The Mirror](https://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/transfer-news/liverpool-transfer-news-gerrard-barcelona-25565632?_ga=2.221149720.1252803687.1638174340-1709007929.1624445730) claiming that Steven Gerrard was hoping to persuade Jurgen Klopp to part ways with the player in a January loan deal.

The 24-year-old has only made [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/joe-gomez/leistungsdaten/spieler/256178) starts for the Reds this season across all competitions, and it appears as if Villa have now finally approached Liverpool regarding the England international.

[Calciomercato](https://www.calciomercato.com/news/liverpool-un-club-chiede-joe-gomez-72920) claimed that the Reds have received an offer from Villa for Gomez, adding that the defender cannot be sold. It doesn’t mention whether Johan Lange launched a permanent or temporary bid for the player, with NSWE [promising](https://www.dailyrecord.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/inside-steven-gerrard-aston-villa-25429141) Gerrard a huge January transfer kitty.
