# Bad news for Liverpool as deal for lethal forward looks unlikely, fans will be dissapointed

***There was a real sense of excitement and enthusiasm amongst the Liverpool fans in the Transfer Tavern earlier this week, with the club [linked](https://www.leparisien.fr/sports/football/mercato-liverpool-mise-sur-aubameyang-18-06-2017-7061034.php) with a move for Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang…***

The deal looked like a match made in heaven. Liverpool have been lacking a top forward since the departure of Luis Suarez, whilst the club were also [said](https://www.leparisien.fr/sports/football/mercato-liverpool-mise-sur-aubameyang-18-06-2017-7061034.php) to be willing to pay big money to land one. The Gabon international certainly fits the mould, and the Reds in the pub were quickly in dreamland.

However, [according to The Times](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/mohamed-salah-to-fly-to-england-as-liverpool-close-on-deal-bs67ft5cc), any deal to bring the striker to Anfield is unlikely – with the Reds said to have no interest in the signing. Significantly, citing sources in Germany, [The Times reports](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/mohamed-salah-to-fly-to-england-as-liverpool-close-on-deal-bs67ft5cc) that the player had a bad relationship with Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp at Borussia Dortmund, perhaps indicating that the player would have little interest in a move.

This news has gone down like a lead balloon in the pub, with many fans already preparing to get the player’s name on the back of their new shirts ahead of next season. With a record of 31 goals in 31 league stars, you certainly can’t blame them for getting over excited.

However, it instead looks like they are going to have to wait a while yet before learning of any striking additions, with the Reds seemingly with a lot of work to do if Klopp is to improve his strikeforce this summer. The good news, though, is that a move for Mohamed Salah is [said](https://www.thetimes.co.uk/edition/sport/mohamed-salah-to-fly-to-england-as-liverpool-close-on-deal-bs67ft5cc) to be close, which is certainly a boost.
