# Barcelona: Fans react to Antoine Griezmann tweet

**Having signed for Barcelona for [£107m](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/48967047) during the summer, you would have perhaps expected Antoine Griezmann to feature in his strongest position for the Spanish champions this season.**

\[freshpress-poll id=”257472″\]

However, the former Atletico Madrid frontman has been used as more of a [left-winger](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-griezmann/leistungsdaten/spieler/125781) by manager Ernesto Valverde so far.

Griezmann has only played three games in his preferred centre-forward position, but scored twice and assisted twice in those three appearances – a telling sign of his effectiveness up front (via [Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/antoine-griezmann/leistungsdaten/spieler/125781)).

Now, with the recent [injury](https://www.sport-english.com/en/news/barca/the-details-of-luis-suarezs-injury-7712730) to striker Luis Suarez, it is likely that the France international will get more of a chance to shine as the central striker between both Lionel Messi and Ousmane Dembele on either flank.

Barca fans are clearly excited about the prospect of Griezmann playing in a more central position this evening, when Slavia Prague visit the Camp Nou in the Champions League.
