# Barcelona: Fans react to Lionel Messi injury news

**It has so far been a season to forget for Barcelona.**

The Catalans have started uncharacteristically slowly in La Liga, winning only 50% of their six games so far, and were nearly beaten in their Champions League group stage opener last week but for a missed penalty from Borussia Dortmund’s Marco Reus.

Despite results on the pitch, it is a more pressing matter which is worrying Barcelona fans at the minute – the constant injuries to talisman Lionel Messi.

The Argentine missed the club’s opening four league games [due to injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/lionel-messi/leistungsdaten/spieler/28003), but returned to action in the Champions League last week, coming off the bench in the second-half for teenager Ansu Fati.

Messi again featured from the sidelines during Saturday’s shock 2-0 defeat away at Granada, before starting Tuesday night’s clash against Villarreal in La Liga – a match the Blaugrana won 2-1.

The 32-year-old limped off with an injury on Tuesday evening, however, with it now being confirmed via Barca’s [official website](https://www.fcbarcelona.com/en/football/first-team/news/1358033/messi-has-a-left-adductor-injury?utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=fcbarcelona&utm_campaign=df9cb0b8-6cc2-4645-b76b-5544b51b2387) that he has “elongated his left abductor” and will be once again sidelined whilst he recovers.

Here’s how fans reacted to that huge blow on Twitter:
