# Barcelona: Fans react to Neymar revelation

**Transfer speculation this summer was dominated by Neymar, with the Brazilian looking set for a mega-money move to [Real Madrid](https://orangefootballclub.com/en/articles/breaking-news-real-madrid-are-going-all-in-for-neymar-jr/) or former club [Barcelona](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/9816032/neymar-barcelona-psg-return-thursday-dembele-rakitic/).**

The 27-year-old, who only left Barca in 2017 to join Paris Saint-Germain for [€222m (roughly £200m)](https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/40762417), tried his upmost to [force a move away](https://www.sport-english.com/en/news/the-last-message-neymar-gave-psg-as-he-tries-to-force-transfer-away-7607874) from the Ligue 1 champions, though with both of his potential suitors in Spain [unable to raise the capital](https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2808193-barcelona-cant-afford-neymar-real-madrid-favourites-says-guillem-balague) to fund his transfer – due to spending heavily on their respective squads at the beginning of the summer in the form of [Eden Hazard](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/real-madrid/transfers/verein/418), [Luka Jovic,](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/real-madrid/transfers/verein/418) [Antoine Griezmann](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-barcelona/transfers/verein/131) and [Frenkie de Jong](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/fc-barcelona/transfers/verein/131) – a move for the attacker never came to fruition.

Neymar remains a PSG player, for this season at least, and will now have to wait until next summer to try and seal a transfer back to La Liga.

A story stemming from El Chiringuito ([via FourFourTwo](https://www.fourfourtwo.com/news/neymar-psg-barcelona-cried-when-his-move-did-not-materialise-summer-report)) is currently circulating Twitter at the moment – courtesy of [@BarcaCentre](https://twitter.com/barcacentre/status/1169864274748948480) – and alleges that when Neymar found out that his dream move back to Catalonia was dead in the water, he broke down in tears. Considering his previous [displays of emotion](https://talksport.com/football/388723/fans-slam-neymar-crying-brazil-costa-rica/) on the pitch, these claims could carry substantial weight.
