# Barcelona midfielder keen on Arsenal switch

The Gunners have a history of poaching young talent from Barcelona, with Hector Bellerin in the first-team a clear example of that, and *[Metro](https://metro.co.uk/2015/10/07/arsenal-transfer-news-sergi-samper-would-accept-offer-alex-iwobi-deal-nolito-open-to-move-5425255/)*[claim 20-year-old midfielder Sergi Samper is next in-line.](https://metro.co.uk/2015/10/07/arsenal-transfer-news-sergi-samper-would-accept-offer-alex-iwobi-deal-nolito-open-to-move-5425255/)

Arsenal’s interest goes way back and it seems they now have a genuine chance of pulling off the deal, with Samper happy to move to secure more playing time and [he would be available for just £8.5m.](https://metro.co.uk/2015/10/07/arsenal-transfer-news-sergi-samper-would-accept-offer-alex-iwobi-deal-nolito-open-to-move-5425255/)

Arsene Wenger’s midfield options need bolstering, particularly behind Francis Coquelin, and it would be a small price to pay for another player nurtured by Barcelona’s prestigious La Masia academy.

Punters at the pool table are debating whether this is a good idea though, wondering if Samper could become the next Cesc Fabregas or be an arrival that failed to flourish like Fran Merida in the past.
