# Belhadj considering move with one eye on the World Cup

![Belhadj](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2009/12/Belhadj-150x150.jpg)Portsmouth’s Nadir Belhadj is keen on a move away from Fratton Park in order to secure a place at next summer’s World Cup, in which his Algeria side will face England.

The 27-year-old joined the South Coast club from French side Lens in 2008 yet has found himself confined to the bench in recent weeks, having not started a Premier League game since September, with the likes of Hermann Hreidarsson being preferred.

The Algerian full back said, *“I’ve been thinking of a departure. Players likely to go to the World Cup are playing but I’m confined to the bench.”*

*“I don’t want to get to the World Cup without games in my legs, so it’s in my interest to look for game time elsewhere. “*

*“I’ll leave in January for a club where they will have confidence in me. I want a change of air.”*
