# Newcastle United: Magpies plotting Goncalo Ramos bid

**[Newcastle United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-news/) are reportedly plotting a bid for Benfica striker Goncalo Ramos ‘in the coming days’.**

### The Lowdown: Off to a flyer

Ramos is already off to a flyer this season, scoring a hat-trick in Benfica’s 4-1 home win over FC Midtjylland in the UEFA Champions League qualifier, while he has also registered three assists ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/550550/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

The 21-year-old comes off the back of a breakthrough campaign last term, where he managed eight goals and four assists in 46 games in total over all competitions ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/goncalo-ramos/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/550550/plus/0?saison=&verein=294&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)).

### The Latest: Bid plotted

Taking to Twitter, journalist [Pedro Sepulveda](https://twitter.com/pedromsepulveda/status/1557057880569815042) has revealed that the St. James’ Park outfit are ‘interested’ in Ramos, and will come forward with an official bid ‘in the coming days’.

Sepulveda, the Benfica in-the-know who [broke](https://twitter.com/pedromsepulveda/status/1535253274634461184?lang=en-GB) Darwin Nunez’s move from Lisbon to Liverpool, adds that the Eagles are looking for a transfer fee above €30m (£25.3m) for his signature:

*“Newcastle interested in Goncalo Ramos. The British will come forward with a proposal in the coming days. @SLBenfica can sell the Portuguese striker for a value above 30 million euros.”*

### The Verdict: Get it done

Benfica have produced a lot of striking talent over the years, namely Joao Felix and Nunez, who are their [record](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benfica-lissabon/rekordabgaenge/verein/294) departures, and Ramos certainly has the potential to follow in their footsteps.

At just 21, he is already scoring big goals on the big stage, and could link up very nicely with fellow Portuguese speakers Bruno Guimaraes and Joelinton.

Nonetheless, considering the [huge](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benfica-lissabon/rekordabgaenge/verein/294) transfer fees that the likes of Felix and Nunez were sold for, £25.3m could turn out to be a real bargain in the future for Ramos.
