# Benitez readies Newcastle Championship cull, £4.5m flop to be axed

**Newcastle fans in the Football Transfer Tavern are desperate to see the deadwood from their squad being cleared out this summer.**

According to [The Sun](https://www.thesun.co.uk/sport/football/1341836/rafa-benitez-ready-to-dump-henri-saivet-five-months-after-toon-forked-out-4-5m/), Rafa Benitez is keen to offload Henri Saivet from his squad, despite his £4.5 m arrival just five months ago.

The Senegalese midfielder joined the Magpies from Bordeaux in January, though was unable to impose himself on first-team proceedings in the North East amid their relegation to the Championship.

It’s clear the former Liverpool and Chelsea coach does not trust the 25-year old, after he did not give him a single minute following his appointment, despite predecessor Steve McClaren affording him four appearances initially.

So, it’s now up to him and his agent to find himself a new club or else faces a season on the sidelines ahead of next season in the second tier of English football.

**Newcastle fans. What have you made of Henri Saivet since his arrival last January, do you want him to be sold? Let us know your thoughts below.**
