# Manchester United plotting Benjamin Sesko transfer

**[Manchester United](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/) are plotting a summer move for Red Bull Salzburg striker Benjamin Sesko, according to a recent report.**

### The Lowdown: Man United eyeing striker

Wout Weghorst was once again chosen to lead the line for Man United in their 2-0 triumph over Newcastle United in the Carabao Cup final, however he has scored just [once](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/wout-weghorst/leistungsdaten/spieler/228645) in nine games for the Red Devils since arriving in January.

As such, he is unlikely to be viewed as a long-term option for United in attack, with [Erik ten Hag](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/tag/erik-ten-hag/) still [said](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manchester-united-premier-league-red-devils-harry-kane-transfer-news-updates/) to be interested in Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane, and Napoli’s [Victor Osimhen](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/manchester-united-news/manchester-united-premier-league-victor-osimhen-transfer-news-updates/).

### The Latest: Sesko targeted

According to a [report](https://www.footballinsider247.com/sources-man-united-plotting-to-sign-benjamin-sesko-with-summer-move-already-agreed/) from Football Insider, the Red Devils are plotting to sign Sesko from Red Bull Salzburg this summer, despite the fact he has already agreed a £21m move to sister club RB Leipzig.

Old Trafford is said to be the perfect destination for the 19-year-old, given Ten Hag’s proven track record of working with young players.

### The Verdict: Make it happen

If there is any possibility of signing the starlet this summer, then Man United should do their utmost to make it happen, given the vast potential that he possesses.

Sesko is a fantastic young prospect who first rose to prominence when he bagged a ridiculous [59 goals in just 23 games](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/benjamin-sesko-salzburg-wonderkid-mini-haaland/nkxc2vivy31hz5i1zuqbc1mp) for second division side Krsko Under-15s in 2017-18.

Journalist Josh Bunting has [hailed](https://twitter.com/Buntingfootball/status/1550560130969763840?s=20) the striker as being a ‘superb talent’, while football scout Jacek Kulig has even [likened](https://twitter.com/FTalentScout/status/1573733769130934277?s=20) him to Manchester City forward Erling Haaland, such is his supreme athleticism and ability in front of goal.

The Slovenian marksman is 6 foot 4 and has been clocked sprinting [over 36 km/h](https://www.goal.com/en-gb/news/benjamin-sesko-salzburg-wonderkid-mini-haaland/nkxc2vivy31hz5i1zuqbc1mp). He has managed to score [six](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-sesko/leistungsdaten/spieler/627442) goals in 18 Austrian Bundesliga appearances so far this term, already bettering his [tally](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/benjamin-sesko/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/627442) from last season.

If Ten Hag is chasing a developing young striker to come in and lead the line for years to come, he could do much worse than Sesko.
