# Birmingham City: These fans were left disappointed by Jefferson Montero’s debut

**Jefferson Montero made his first start for Birmingham City in Blues’ 2-1 win against Stoke City, but it didn’t last long for the Ecuadorian.**

Just 29 minutes into the game, the 30-year-old was carried off on a stretcher and replaced by Jude Bellingham – who went on to score the winner:

There had been [**plenty of excitement**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/championship/birmingham/birmingham-city-fans-react-to-jefferson-monteros-tweet/) following his debut, in which he came on for the final 10 minutes of Blues’ 3-0 victory over Barnsley, making 3 dribbles and 1 key pass, as per [**WhoScored**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381382/Live/England-Championship-2019-2020-Birmingham-Barnsley).

It is safe to say this performance was underwhelming though, as he managed to complete 3 of his 4 passes and [**attempted 1 dribble**](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1381406/Live/England-Championship-2019-2020-Birmingham-Stoke) that didn’t come off while he was on the pitch.

There is a chance he could be back soon though, as Pep Clotet has stated that he is not overly concerned about the severity of the injury, as reported by [**The Birmingham Mail**](https://www.birminghammail.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/explained-latest-jefferson-montero-birmingham-16846691).

A selection of Twitter reaction to the injury, including posts from disappointed Birmingham fans, can be seen below:
