# Blow for Arsenal as January target snubs Gunners switch

[![Luiz Gustavo](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Luis-Gustavo-500x321.jpg)](https://cdn.footballtransfertavern.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/08/Luis-Gustavo.jpg)The Arsenal fans in the Football Transfer Tavern were left embarrassed as they saw their beloved side go down with little more than a whimper in Dortmund last night.

Their seemingly capable squad on paper is starting to show its weaknesses and according to the [Daily Star](https://www.dailystar.co.uk/sport/football/400136/Luiz-Gustavo-plays-down-talk-of-a-move-to-Arsenal-or-Manchester-United), they will not be handed the boost of landing Luiz Gustavo this January.

Reports suggest that Wolfsburg’s Brazilian international midfielder has ruled out a move to the Premier League.

Both Arsenal and Manchester United were tipped to make a bid for the 27-year-old former Bayern Munich man with many suggesting the figure could be as much as £27.5 million.

However, the Brazilian star insists he has no interest in swapping Germany for England when the transfer window re-opens in January.

In an interview he said: “I am very happy, VfL Wolfsburg is a great club to play for and I like living in Germany and the German mentality.

“I feel my future is here and I am able to imagine playing on for many years, because I identify with the city of Wolfsburg.

“Wolfsburg is a workers’ city, this suits me.”

### **Arsenal fans. Why can’t Arsene Wenger seem to get all of his necessary transfer business concluded like the likes of Chelsea’s Jose Mourinho? Let us know your thoughts below.**
