# Brennan Camp – Profile

**Name: Brennan Camp**

**Club: Bournemouth**

**Date of Birth: 12 October 2000**

**Position: Centre-back**

## **Brennan Camp – his career so far**

**Brennan Camp** is a **Bournemouth** graduate through and through. The now 19-year-old centre-back joined the *Cherries* back in 2007 and then quickly progressed through the ranks at the club before then penning his first professional contract with the club in 2019.

The Dorchester-born youngster was schooled at Royal Manor on Portland and scouted by the Premier League outfit back when he was playing his football at **Weymouth**, a club he would later on represent once again.

He can boast with performances both for **Bournemouth’s** U18 and U21 squads, even captaining their youth side to the quarter-final of the *FA Youth Cup* in 2018/19, the club’s best run in the competition in a total of 50 long years.

Even though he is still waiting for his first official senior appearance, Camp already has some experience with **Eddie Howe’s** troops, having trained with them last year and was then subsequently called up to sit on the bench for the *Cherries’* *Carabao Cup* third-round defeat at the hands of **Burton Albion**.

But despite that, **Camp** has been gaining valuable experience and first-team roles outside of **Bournemouth** as he was sent out on various loan spells to **Portland United**, **Poole Town**, **Dorchester Town** and then finally to **Weymouth** for a second spell at the club of his youth.

Now, he has returned to **Bournemouth’s** U21 squad and it still remains to be seen what the future holds for this youngster as he fights to be included in **Howe’s** plans once football and life return back to normal.

As of right now, however, it does feel like he still has a way to go until he can prove he’s ready for a big step-up and the challenges of the *Premier League*.

## **Transfer latest**

The biggest [**Bournemouth news**](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/bournemouth-news/) surrounding **Camp** has undoubtedly been his return back to the parent club following a loan spell at **Weymouth**. Of course, he himself stated he relished his stay with the club of his youth as it gave him the opportunity to improve, develop and experience a first-team role that was unavailable at the *Vitality Stadium*. At least for now, that is.

There are no *transfer rumours* or *transfer news* indicating he will have a place in **Howe’s** squad in the near future, it should be noted that his contract is due to expire in the following summer.

Even though recent years have been full of loan deals that took him away from his parent club, he still has aspirations to make it at **Bournemouth** by clawing his way up from the U21s. The talent is certainly there as all the interest for the loans of the coveted defender do indicate.

Let’s see if he can make it.

## **Player profile**

**Camp** is quite versatile and even though he prefers to play at the centre-back position, he can also be slotted out wide and cover the right-back role, as he has actually done during his stay with **Bournemouth’s** U21 squad.

When it comes to his player profile, he does strike as a tad aggressive defender who likes to get in your face and make those interceptions and win duels against the opposition attackers. There are no stats available for him, however, because his loan spells were all done in the lower leagues and he’s had no exposure to the *Cherries’* first-team as of yet.

What can be seen from the very limited data pool that is available through *Wyscout*, though, is that he needs to work on his composure and security in possession as he can often be seen losing the ball in his own half, which is a big issue for an aspiring centre-back.

He is, however, capable of winning both offensive and defensive duels, courtesy of playing as the full-back, a role that often has a plethora of offensive tasks as well. At the moment, it’s still pretty clear that he’s not quite there yet for a *Premier League* call up but at 19 years of age, he can still develop into an important player.
