Brentford have enjoyed a remarkable 2024/25 season.
Not only have the Bees played some of the most entertaining football in the Premier League, but Thomas Frank’s side are also on the verge of qualifying for European competition for the first time in their 135-year history.
Currently sitting eighth in the table, Brentford could secure a place in next season’s UEFA Conference League—provided Manchester City win the FA Cup and finish in the top five, and Newcastle United secure a Champions League spot.
Speaking to the press ahead of their penultimate league match against Fulham, Frank said he remains “optimistic” about their European hopes.
“I always dream, hope and push everyone as much as possible,” said the Danish coach. “When we got promoted, we didn’t see as far as potentially being a club that played in Europe. But I saw a club that I knew could take some steps forward and had big belief in the club.
“We never talked about relegation—respected it—but spoke about how we could develop and how we could be as high as possible,” he added. “So, we are where we are now and it’s very good, and we need to keep going.”
Brentford leading race for Antoni Milambo

Should Brentford qualify for Europe, Frank will likely look to strengthen the squad this summer—both in terms of depth and quality, given the demanding nature of continental competition.
According to The Mirror, one of the club’s top targets is Feyenoord midfielder Antoni Milambo.
The 20-year-old attacking midfielder has enjoyed a breakout season, scoring seven goals—including a memorable brace against Benfica in the Champions League—and providing eight assists across all competitions.
The Mirror reports that Brentford are “leading the charge” to sign Milambo and “have already started laying the groundwork for a deal.”
While formal negotiations are yet to begin, the club has already presented its project to the player’s representatives and outlined how he would fit into Frank’s tactical setup. Talks are expected to begin shortly after the season ends.
Feyenoord are reportedly seeking a fee in the region of £10–15 million for Milambo, who became the club’s youngest-ever debutant when he made his first appearance at age 16 in 2021.
Speaking about the young talent back in October, former Feyenoord and Everton winger Royston Drenthe said: “Ridiculous… his footwork is currently – in my opinion – one of the best I see. He’s very light on his feet.”
