# Arsenal: Charles Watts drops big Thomas Partey boost

**[Arsenal](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/arsenal-fc-news/) journalist for GOAL Charles Watts has dropped a big Team News boost ahead of their trip to Brentford in the [Premier League](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/premier-league-news/) at Sunday lunchtime.**

### The Lowdown: Partey injury

It was [reported](https://www.goal.com/en/lists/arsenal-injury-list-partey-smith-rowe-elneny/blt44322c7e34145389#cs0d3ec426e443bd43) that Partey suffered a thigh problem shortly after the Emirates Stadium outfit won 3-0 away at AFC Bournemouth in the top flight in August.

As a result, he has missed their last [three](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-partey/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/230784/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=) games in the division, with their proposed match at home to Everton last weekend postponed in order to pay respects to Her Majesty The Queen following her passing.

### The Latest: Expected to face Brentford

Taking to Twitter, [Watts](https://twitter.com/charles_watts/status/1569624230974656512) has revealed that Partey is now ‘expected to face Brentford’ this weekend after continuing his recovery, adding that he has been in training since last week:

*“Partey is expected to face Brentford this weekend, he’s been training since last week (before the scheduled Everton game). Arteta to make the final decision, but barring any set-back this week, he should be available.”*

### The Verdict: Big boost

Of course, it is a big boost for Mikel Arteta and his team to have Partey back and available after injury.

He has proven to be one of the Spaniard’s most important players, missing only [two](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/thomas-partey/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/230784/plus/0?saison=&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=GB1&pos=&trainer_id=47620) games in the Premier League when he has been available under his reign.

It also means that Albert Sambi Lokonga, who has been filling in for Partey in the specialist defensive midfield role in the absence of both him and the injured Mohamed Elneny, can return to his more natural position of central midfield ([Transfermarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/albert-sambi-lokonga/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/381967/plus/0?saison=2022&verein=&liga=&wettbewerb=&pos=&trainer_id=)), therefore not putting any further strain on the squad.
