# Crystal Palace: Bright Osayi-Samuel left out of QPR squad

**Crystal Palace were [linked](https://www.teamtalk.com/news/exclusive-crystal-palace-close-on-second-signing-from-qpr) with young Championship winger Bright Osayi-Samuel over the course of the summer transfer window, but no transfer materialised.**

However, the latest news around the player seems to suggest that he could still make a move in the January transfer window as he was [dropped](https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/his-head-has-got-to-be-in-the-right-place-boss-gives-update-on-osayi-samuel-after-qpr-winger-is-dropped) for QPR’s defeat to Barnsley last night.

### Warbuton’s reasoning for dropping Osayi-Samuel

After dropping him from the squad, R’s manager Mark Warbuton [said](https://www.westlondonsport.com/qpr/his-head-has-got-to-be-in-the-right-place-boss-gives-update-on-osayi-samuel-after-qpr-winger-is-dropped): “The contractual talks have been ongoing for a while now. He’s a great lad but his head has got to be in the right place for a game of football.

“I just felt tonight wasn’t right for him and for the team as well. It does him good to think about things. I just want Brighty to have a clear head and make the right decision.

“As far as I’m aware, absolutely, there’s hope with Brighty. He’s in a very good place at the club, he’s developing at the club and I hope very much he can see that’s the case.”

### Should Palace look to make a move for the player in January?

The 22-year-old winger has already made 179 career appearances betweem QPR and his former club Blackpool, scoring 16 goals and recording 17 assists, ([Transfermarkt).](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bright-osayi-samuel/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/358948)

Last season was certainly one of his best as he tallied five goals and eight assists whilst also averaging 1.2 shots, 2.9 successful dribbles and 1.2 key passes per game ([WhoScored)](https://www.whoscored.com/PlayerComparison). He could be a good signing for the Eagles, who have emphasised that they are looking for young attacking talent [following the signing](https://www.cpfc.co.uk/news/2020/august/eberechi-eze-signs-five-year-deal-with-crystal-palace/) of Osayi-Samuel’s [former QPR team-mate](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/bright-osayi-samuel/gemeinsameSpiele/spieler/358948/gegner/479999/kriterium/2/wettbewerb//liga/0/verein/0) Eberechi Eze this summer.

With him possibly being available on a free next summer, the Eagles could pick up a bright young talent without dipping into their transfer budget. As a result, a potential move for Osayi-Samuel would seem like a no-brainer for Roy Hodgson’s side.
