# Brighton & Hove Albion: Martin Keown says Seagulls are “much better” when playing with two strikers

**BBC pundit Martin Keown believes that Brighton are “much better” when they play with two centre-forwards rather than one.**

Graham Potter has fielded a [two-man front line for their last three Premier League matches](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/spielplan/verein/1237) and it brought them victory over Norwich at the weekend, a result which [all but confirms their top-flight status](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) again for next season.

Keown was speaking on *Match of the Day* with Gary Lineker and Ian Wright on Saturday and, in analysing the Seagulls’ win at Carrow Road, he said \[via [Sussex Live](https://www.sussexlive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/ian-wright-says-what-brighton-4295487)\]: “Two up top, Gary, it makes them look much better.”

Brighton have amassed [36 points](https://www.premierleague.com/tables) so far in this season’s Premier League, 22 of which have come when Potter has played with two centre-forwards. He has gone with two up top in 15 league games this term, yielding a return of 1.47 points per game with two strikers. Their record with a lone centre-forward is 14 points from 18 games, an average of just 0.78 points per game. \[via [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/spielplan/verein/1237)\]

Furthermore, six of their eight league wins in 2019/20 have come when they have started with two strikers – the only matches they won with just one centre-forward were against Bournemouth in December and Arsenal last month. \[via [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/spielplan/verein/1237)\]

Brighton have scored 20 goals in the 15 league matches where they had two centre-forwards (1.33 per game) compared to 15 goals in 18 league matches with only one striker (0.83 per game). \[via [TransferMarkt](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/spielplan/verein/1237)\]

The Seagulls win more, score more and collect more points per game when Potter fields two centre-forwards rather than one. Therefore, Keown is quite right in saying that Brighton are indeed “much better” when they start with a double act up top rather than going with a lone striker.
