# Brighton & Hove Albion: Predicted XI v Newcastle

**Brighton go into this evening’s Premier League clash against Newcastle knowing that [one point from their final two games](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table) will mathematically secure their top-flight status again for next season.**

In reality, the Seagulls did enough to end any lingering fears of the drop by claiming a point away to Southampton last Thursday, while Bournemouth’s defeat to the Saints yesterday leaves them six points adrift of Graham Potter’s men and having only one more game to try and overturn an [11-goal disadvantage](https://www.skysports.com/premier-league-table).

As per [Brighton & Hove Independent](https://www.brightonandhoveindependent.co.uk/sport/football/brighton-and-hove-albion/injury-latest-brighton-defender-making-good-progress-ahead-newcastle-2917636), the Seagulls manager is optimistic that Adam Webster, who suffered a hip problem at St Mary’s four days ago, will be passed fit to feature against the Magpies. Alireza Jahanbakhsh may also be available after returning to training following a hamstring injury, also Steven Alzate and Jose Izquierdo remain sidelined.

Our predicted Brighton XI for the Amex Stadium clash features three changes in personnel from the team that [started against Southampton](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3219127):

Fresh from his [outstanding reaction save](https://www.skysports.com/football/soton-vs-brighton/report/408339) on Thursday, **Mat Ryan** needs just two more full appearances to [complete an entire Premier League season](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/211/Show/England-Brighton) for Brighton. Potter went with [three at the back](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3219127) at St Mary’s, flooding the midfield in an [apparent attempt to combat Southampton’s aggressive pressing game](https://www.whoscored.com/Matches/1376190/Preview/England-Premier-League-2019-2020-Brighton-Newcastle-United), but could revert to a conventional back four here, with **Dan Burn** and **Tariq Lamptey** on the flanks. **Webster** will likely play alongside **Lewis Dunk** if fit enough to feature, although Shane Duffy could be called upon if there are fitness doubts over the ex-Bristol City man.

**Yves Bissouma** may return to the centre of midfield, having only [come on as a substitute](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3219127) against the Saints, with **Davy Propper** and **Dale Stephens** also holding the fort in the middle of the park. There could be a couple of changes in terms of the Seagulls’ wide options, with **Leandro Trossard** coming in for Solly March on the left and Lamptey’s return to a right-back role presenting **Aaron Mooy** with the chance to take up the right midfield berth.

Potter [started with two up top](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/spielbericht/index/spielbericht/3219127) on Thursday as Glenn Murray partnered **Neal Maupay**, although the 36-year-old might not start two games in such quick succession, leaving their [top scorer](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/leistungsdaten/verein/1237) in a lone centre-forward role as he hopes to add to his [10 goals](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/leistungsdaten/verein/1237) this season.
