# Brighton & Hove Albion: Seagulls may need to move quickly if they want Ryan Fraser as promoted trio join transfer hunt \[Opinion\]

**As per [90min.com](https://www.90min.com/posts/leeds-west-brom-fulham-ryan-fraser-transfer-tottenham-arsenal-cool-interest), Brighton have “made their interest known” in potentially signing [Ryan Fraser](https://www.footballtransfertavern.com/newcastle-united-transfer-rumours/newcastle-ryan-fraser-transfer-d-day/) on a free transfer in the summer transfer window.**

However, if that interest is still in place, the Seagulls could have fresh competition for the ex-Bournemouth winger’s signature, with [90min.com](https://www.90min.com/posts/leeds-west-brom-fulham-ryan-fraser-transfer-tottenham-arsenal-cool-interest) reporting that the newly-promoted Premier League trio of Leeds, West Brom and Fulham have all entered the transfer race for the 26-year-old.

Although Tottenham and Arsenal have seemingly ended their interest in the Scotland international, Crystal Palace, Newcastle and West Ham could all be in contention to land his signature, as per [90min.com](https://www.90min.com/posts/leeds-west-brom-fulham-ryan-fraser-transfer-tottenham-arsenal-cool-interest).

Fraser excelled for Bournemouth in the 2018/19 with [seven goals and 14 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fraser/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/146795), the latter figure beaten only by Eden Hazard of Chelsea in that campaign. However, his return dipped to just [one goal and four assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fraser/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/146795) last season as the Cherries dropped out of the Premier League.

The winger has made [120 appearances](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fraser/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/146795/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/989) during his four years in England’s top division, with [16 goals and 29 assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/ryan-fraser/leistungsdatendetails/spieler/146795/wettbewerb/GB1/verein/989) in those games. With a track record like that, it should come as no great surprise that so many top-flight clubs are eager to secure his services on a free transfer.

Were he to join Brighton, Fraser’s main competition for a place on the left flank is Leandro Trossard, who netted [five goals and provided three assists](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/brighton-amp-hove-albion/leistungsdaten/verein/1237/reldata/%262019/plus/1) in his first season at the Amex Stadium in 2019/20.

Solly March found his [game-time limited](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/solly-march/leistungsdaten/spieler/209212) last term and provided just [one assist](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/solly-march/leistungsdaten/spieler/209212), while Jose Izquierdo has been laid low with a [long-term knee injury](https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/jose-izquierdo/verletzungen/spieler/147094) and may struggle to get back into the line-up once he recovers.

Fraser averaged [1.6 key passes and one successful cross](https://www.whoscored.com/Players/93160/Show/Ryan-Fraser) per game last season – among Brighton’s squad, only Pascal Gross had higher averages for those metrics, with two and 1.6 respectively (as per [WhoScored](https://www.whoscored.com/Teams/211/Show/England-Brighton)).

Judging by those statistics, Fraser could be an effective addition to Brighton’s squad if they sign him, while his 2018/19 return shows how effective he can be when at his best. Also, even if he doesn’t displace Trossard straight away, he would likely provide stiff competition for the Belgian in a position where the Seagulls aren’t blessed with options.

However, with three more clubs seemingly joining the hunt for the 26-year-old, Albion cannot afford to dawdle if they are serious about signing the Scottish winger. Given his Premier League previous, it seems only a matter of time before one of his many suitors swoops for him.
